How Installing Energy-Efficient Windows in Mission Saves You Money

Upgrading to energy-efficient windows can improve the comfort of your home and help you save on electricity bills. Here are more details about how upgrading your windows could benefit you:

  • Protect your valuables: Many energy-efficient windows have low-emissivity coatings, which filter out harmful UV rays, preventing fading of your furniture, carpet and other valuables.
  • Protect your investment: Upgrading and repairing your windows is an important part of maintaining your property and its value, especially if your home is on the older side.
  • Reduce your carbon footprint: Reducing the amount of energy you use also lowers your carbon emissions. You could reduce it by 583 pounds per year on average.
  • Save on electricity bills: According to the Department of Energy, heat gained or lost through windows makes up around 25-30% of household energy use. Replacing your windows with energy-efficient models can help decrease that amount, therefore saving you about 12% more on your bills.

Estimated Cost of Window Replacement in Mission

Windows come in various styles, purposes and shapes, so costs and services will vary considerably depending on your project. Below, we detail the average cost and services that you'll find from window installation companies.

How Much Do New Windows Cost?

Although the typical to replace one window is about $600, it can range from $200 to $1,200. But costs will vary considerably based on the number of windows you need, the current condition of your home, the quality of your products and your location. Many window companies also offer replacement door installations and other add-ons like coating, baths, shutters and more. Additional services will increase your overall project costs.

It's important to bear in mind that windows with the best efficiency may cost more initially but can save you hundreds of dollars by decreasing your energy bills. Investing in Energy Star certified windows can save Mission homeowners $396+ a year when replacing single-pane windows.

We recommend getting free quotes from multiple window installation companies to find the right windows and the company that works best for you.

What Services do Window Installers Offer?

The first question to ask yourself when getting new windows is: Should you get a full-frame installation or a pocket installation?

Full-frame installations are necessary when you want a new style or your window has a lot of rot or deterioration. With this service, your professionals will replace the complete window, including the sill, frame and trim. Pocket installations (or retrofits) entail replacing a window within its existing frame, which makes pocket installations take less time and therefore cost less. However, if the frame has any rot or deterioration, you will most likely need a full-frame installation instead.

If you're not sure which kind of window installation service you need, your installer should be able to advise you. In general, the choice is based on factors such as the age and condition of the home, the type of building material, budget and time restrictions.

How We Choose the Best Window Installers in Mission

In our hunt to make your home improvements easier and more eco-friendly in Mission, the EcoWatch Reviews team evaluated many companies before deciding on these. Along with energy efficiency, we analyzed each installer and assigned rankings based on the following methodology:

Service Area

Because this is a guide for Mission, we paid more attention to companies that cover the city. There are other reputable providers that didn't make the list because of the low odds that they would serve the average homeowner in Mission.

Work Quality

We're certain that you're looking for a company to do a great job installing windows. We've vetted each installer included on this list to make sure its contractors are well-qualified and that the company has gotten a lot of positive customer feedback to vouch for its service.

Customer Reviews

We analyzed patterns in recent online reviews to find the companies with the most consistent customer satisfaction, weighted by sample size. Customer satisfaction might be the factor we place the most value on, as it reflects the quality of services across nearly every category, including warranty, quality of installation, quality of parts, professionalism, cost and more.

Cost

Cheaper windows don't necessarily mean better windows, but we know many of our readers would like to keep costs low when possible. When analyzing the prices of providers, we awarded higher scores to companies with reasonable prices and accessible financing rather than "cheaper" services.

Warranty

Protecting your investment in new windows is important. That's why window installation companies that give you lengthy warranties for products, parts and installation (aka workmanship) rank higher with EcoWatch.

Years of Experience

Last but not least, we like to see companies that have been in the industry for a while. Window installers that have more years of experience are going to earn higher rankings by our standards. We like to see at least ten years of experience.

Mission, KS Window Replacement FAQs

How much does window installation cost?

The national average cost of installing a window is about $600 but can range between $200 and $1,200, depending on a few different factors. The price is usually dependent on the size of the window, the location of your property and the type and material of the window. Also, bear in mind that energy-efficient windows may cost more upfront but can save you a decent amount of money a year in energy bills.

What are the most common kinds of replacement windows?

There are several different kinds of windows you can get for your house, such as picture windows, slider windows, transom windows, awning windows, double-hung and single-hung windows, bay windows and casement windows.

What do window installation companies do?

Window installation professionals travel to your house to remove your old windows and replace them with new ones. Some providers install products sold by other companies, whereas others are both manufacturers and installation companies combined. The installer will also clean up after the installation is finished.

How do you know it's time to replace your windows?

Windows have an average lifespan of about 20 to 30 years. If your windows are older than that, they probably need to be replaced. Apart from that, if your windows have damage anywhere on them, or they have become difficult to open or close, they may need to be replaced.

Should I replace my windows all at once?

If you want to get more efficient windows and save money on energy costs, replacing all of your windows at the same time is the only way to see a noticeable difference. However, if you have only one or two windows that are damaged or leaky, you can replace just those.
